Many thanks to you for your support! Already more than 220 000 European citizens have signed this petition. It's absolutely amazing but we need more.

On March 11th, after the Versailles Summit, the 27 Heads of State of the European Union reaffirmed their support to Ukraine and officially said Ukraine is part of the "European family". They also asked the European Commission to evaluate Ukraine's application to be recognized as EU candidate country and give its opinion as soon as possible. This is very positive but it's not enough.

Indeed, even if the European Commission gives a positive opinion (which we cannot be sure about), the next step will be for the European Parliament to vote as well. MEPs already said they support it, so we can be confident the official vote might be positive as well. However, the following and final step will be to get the approval from every European Member State. As per the EU rules, we need unanimity of that.

And it will be difficult. For now, 14 EU Member States already officially said they support granting Ukraine the EU candidate country status: Poland, Lithuania; Latvia; Estonia; Romania, Greece, Czechia, Slovakia, Croatia, Slovenia, Ireland, Bulgaria, Hungary, and - Mario Draghi just announced it today - Italy. But many other European leaders remain silent.

Help us to pressure them and make sure all EU Member States officially support recognizing Ukraine as a candidate state to the EU.
