I call upon you to sign this petition for the government to debate the need for a complete investigation into the complete transparency regarding MPs and Lords and their family's vested interests (shares) in energy companies and their board member seats. Conflicts of interest do not serve the people when they are voting or creating new policies. The houses of Parliament must remain impartial even if that includes recusing themselves from voting. It is tantamount to insider trading and affects the whole country. I call for them to implement a separate adjudicated body to monitor the interests of MPs and Lords outside the parliamentary system.

We are a Glass Blowing Company in Bath with high energy consumption. We nearly went out of business due to the massive energy increase. We have a temporary solution, which is fortunate for us however many other businesses do not have this luxury. The Energy Cap Support is useless as the Cap is so high before help steps in from the government. For Estimated examples from my broker,  if our gas energy quote is 7p per KW you do not receive any government support, but I have a quote for 10p which means with the government discount my bill goes annually up from 14k to 77k + standing charges, which I have been told there is an increase in March of 50% because the energy companies lost money last year.

Also, I have been informed that energy companies are reluctant to give quotes to the hospitality industry as they are considered high-risk. Hospitality provides a high percentage of unskilled jobs. Also, the local pub helps mental health as it is a place for the community to meet, Also it gives young adults a step up into employment before university or going into the workplace to earn money towards fees, etc.

Energy is a vital resource for existence and it should not be a commodity floated on the stock market. Businesses, hospitals, and schools should be protected by the government. Conflicts of interest with Lords and MPs should be monitored and adjudicated by a separate body to the government which is linked to the judicial system. There are far too many conflicts of interest in this present parliament.
