For a global ban on killing in war and the protection of all life

Das Problem

All my life I have heard ominous warnings that the world is coming to an end. The media seems fixated on dividing us and sowing seeds of fear. In this landscape of uncertainty and dread, my deepest wish is for my son to inherit a world where he need not fear the specter of war, or bear the burden of killing others to protect his country. It is a world where people embrace the notion that we are all brothers and sisters; a world that seeks not death and destruction, but peace and unison.

We call upon the international community, governments, and institutions worldwide to take a decisive step toward humanity: the consistent prohibition of killing as a means of conflict resolution. Wars contradict the most fundamental of human rights. Every human being is entitled to life, security, and dignity—regardless of origin, nationality, or political affiliation. Yet, every day, killing in war continues.

Globally, over 70 million people have been forcibly displaced as a result of conflict and persecution. This displacement is not just a statistic, but a glaring testament to the failure of using violence and warfare as solutions to disputes. We need to recognize the alternatives that exist—diplomatic negotiations, peace accords, and dialogue forums—that have proven effective in resolving conflicts without bloodshed.

Numerous studies have demonstrated the devastating impacts of war, including long-term trauma, poverty, and the fracturing of communities. The economic cost alone runs into trillions of dollars which could instead be channeled towards education, healthcare, and sustainable development. Imagine a world where resources are dedicated not to war machines, but to creating livelihoods, fostering innovation, and building resilient communities.

The world we envision is one where future generations live without the looming shadow of war. They deserve the chance to thrive in an environment where differences are resolved through understanding and cooperation rather than conflict. It’s time to reshape the narrative and take decisive action to end killing as a means of conflict resolution.

Join us in this cause to protect all life. Let us stand united in our demand for a global ban on this systematic violence and affirm the sanctity of human life. Every signature brings us closer to a world that prioritizes peace over violence. Please sign the petition and let your voice be heard for change.
