Thank you to the small group of you who took time to read this, think about it, endorse it by sharing or signing, or make donations. It’s been an interesting experience for me to run with this idea and create this initiative. I put a good deal of effort into it over the two weeks. It gave me a way to channel my thoughts and feelings about those struggling in Venezuela. It gave me a different way to connect with some of you and have some good conversations. I learned plenty that will inspire other projects I'm sure. I appreciate the time and energy from each of you. Despite our own challenges, it's downright amazing that we have the lives and resources that we do.

Now I am putting this project to rest. Of course I'm wishing that it became a viral sensation and that a massive donation was made. Not every project goes that way. It hurts to think about what the Venezuelans are still dealing with. They have a long road ahead.

FIFA has pledged $1 million USD from its Humanitarian fund to support the Venezuelan recovery. That's awesome. I didn't even know that FIFA had a Humanitarian fund. They also have a Global Citizen Education Fund that committed $500,00 to support Venezuelan students that were affected. This is good news to me. Sure, it looks like a small amount in the context of what is needed for Venezuela to recover, but it signals that this major sports corporation recognizes their potential to help. These kinds of connections between large financial engines and global areas of need gives me hope and makes me wonder what else is possible.
