Dear friends,
One week ago, the #TheThreeHijabis launched our petition calling on racists to be banned from football. We are nearing 1.5 million signatures!
CLICK HERE to share the petition and help us get to that next milestone!
Together we are creating the biggest anti-racist movement this country has ever seen.
Over the weekend, we talked to radio stations across the country including Lancashire, Manchester, Cumbria, Somerset, Sheffield, Leeds, Bradford, Newcastle and more - and there was a write up of the campaign in the Guardian on Saturday.
Our collective campaign has hit a nerve with people across England, and further afield. This is not an accident of timing, it’s a groundswell of support for an issue that has been among us in our society for far too long. We are determined to do all we can to fight racism in football - and in society more broadly.
On football, we will track the government to make sure they deliver on their promise to ban racists from football. We will turn our attention to the social media companies and the rules that bind them - and we are committed to working with footballing authorities to make sure everything is done at all levels of the sport to drive racism out.
If you haven’t done so yet you could CLICK HERE to tweet the Football Association - we believe the FA owes all of us a duty of care when football is hijacked as a vehicle for racism, homophobia or misogyny. Our diaries are open, FA…
There’s been too much poison flowing through this country because of the way politics has been conducted, and large sections of the media have fanned the flames as well - and now it’s our chance to show that this has got to a point where we are rising up to say enough is enough.
And finally, we would like to wish Eid Mubarak to those celebrating this week.
Keep sharing, keep tweeting, keep in touch.
In solidarity,
Shaista, Amna & Huda
