June 22, 2017 PBS NewsHour reports Venezuelan crisis has resulted in 75% of Venezuelans with average weight loss of 19 pounds. This affects children most severely, causing stunted physical development, cognitive problems, and death. Another report dated March 26, 207 states that "the country's hospitals now have less than 5 percent of the medicine they need to treat their patients." The following video from 09/01/2016 explains the situation and shows evidence of how Nicolás Maduro's regime is using food to secure support from a segment of the population (military, government workers) while the rest of the population does not have access to food. I leave you with two pieces of information about the crisis: 1) "Venezuelan children faint at school due to hunger." 2) This week David Vallenilla, a 22 year old youth was shot at point blank by the Venezuelan military, an action that is becoming more and more common.
