According to the Venezuelan news website Maduradas.com, officials in the state of Anzoátegui report that 90 babies have died due to malnutrition in the past 2 months. They also warn about the increase in deaths of mothers due to childbirth complications. The political crisis in Venezuela is affecting all life in the country. This petition, which began in an effort to help Ruperta, the elephant starving at the Caricuao Zoo, is now meant to inform the world about the suffering that Venezuelans are experiencing. The Venezuelan media article quotes a health official blaming the govenrment of the state of Anzoátegui for the death of these 90 children and their mothers. President Maduro's government continues to refuse to accept responsibility for this crisis and the wellbeing of Ruperta the elephant is unknown. This information will be sent to UNICEF.
