Each and every day students and teachers across NYC are wasting precious instructional time fixing and refixing connectivity issues on student laptops due to issues with Zscaler. Students are unable to access safe and important educational resources.

If this issue continues students and teachers will grow increasingly frustrated with the use of technology in the classroom and it will be used less and less.  More and more exams are shifting to computer-based and this is a dangerous direction to be heading in if we can't get our students comfortable using laptops on a daily basis. In addition to this, we need our students to be proficient with computers as they will be using them throughout their careers as students and throughout their entire lives. It is one of our many jobs as educators to ensure this happens.  

We understand the importance of security on student laptops.  All we are asking for is a permanent solution so that we no longer have to dread assigning work on computers due to countless connectivity issues. 

I am using this as a teachable moment and encouraged my third-grade students to create a petition which my entire class signed.  I hope you will join them in this fight and show them that we can create change in a peaceful, positive, and meaningful way.
