Last Monday, the real-life case that inspired our petition was sentenced to 4.5 years—meaning he will serve 3 years. This is devastating. The sentence was reduced from the minimum 6 years due to mitigating factors, including 35 character references, his autism, and the passage of time.
Due to prison system backlogs, we have received no contact to know he is okay, which is especially worrying given his autism.
This heartbreaking situation highlights exactly why we need clearer, fairer consent laws that properly consider neurodivergent communication, relationship context, and intent.

We cannot stress enough — every signature matters. This is about protecting vulnerable individuals from miscarriages of justice, while still supporting survivors of sexual assault.
