This weekend, the Seattle Times editorial board delivered a clear message to Governor Inslee and the Washington State Legislature: act to fix our ferry crisis, and act now.

"Gov. Jay Inslee, whose private Bainbridge Island home is mere blocks from one end of the state’s busiest routes, bears the greatest responsibility for the disrepair of its network of marine highways. He has one year left in his term to right the ship before cementing a legacy as the governor who sailed the system into decrepitude."

Now, the newly formed Islanders for Ferry Action is set to release our report next week detailing input from the September Community Forum and compiling dozens of problem statements and solutions from community members on Vashon and throughout ferry-served communities.

The full Seattle Times editorial echoes what residents of our communities have been saying for months, and even years. It's past time to fix our vital  transportation infrastructure.

Now, it's time for us as residents to keep the pressure on the Governor and the Legislature. Visit www.vashonchamber.com/FAR for contact information for our elected and WSF leadership.
