Maplewood Neighbors: 

We've got to do better! 

The intersection of Maplewood Avenue and Jefferson Avenue is one of Maplewood's most dangerous.  Those of us who live adjacent to it experience the loud crash of vehicles seemingly every few days.  And many of us worry each time that a pedestrian, a driver, a passenger, a neighbor, a high school student, or a loved one has been seriously hurt. 

We understand that there have been multiple studies of the site, that some steps have been taken, and that others are envisioned.  However, whatever has been done clearly is not enough. 

We urge the city of Maplewood to consider more serious measures including four-way stops or traffic lights at both this intersection and the Jefferson / Walton / Woodland intersection along with speed bumps and rumble strips leading up to the intersection.    

The time for action is now, before someone is seriously hurt or worse.
