Fix the graphics for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix!

Fix the graphics for Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix!

The Issue

(please share this petition to others to help bring attention to SEGA, every share means the WORLD to me!! Thank you so much!!)

The Game Title, ‘Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Mega Mix’ is a rhythm game for the Nintendo Switch, ported from the well known title, ‘Future Tone’ available for the PS4. It was released 3 years ago in 2020. it’s a quite enjoyable game other than what it’s quite disliked for, the GRAPHICS, it just doesn’t look good for an arcade game from 2010. Some people don’t find a problem with this (mostly newcomers), but the toon shader just does not at all fit the game and the whole point of it. I understand that the toon shader is probably for a ‘friendly, attracting’ look to younger audiences, but it still does not at all fit the game, especially certain songs and views.

And as you're probably wondering, "But what about the frame rate? The switch isn't powerful enough to run the game without a toon shader." Actually, that's not true because the toon shader is just a skin OVER the future tone graphics. As you see the video I just put, it runs well without the toon shader on switch.

Although I don't 100% know if it won't cause the switch to heat up a lot or something but that's what I'm going to explain next,

the Megamix graphics are ported from Future Tone but just given a toon shader, and the Future Tone graphics are ported from Dreamy Theater. The dreamy theater graphics looks very downgraded but looks a whole lot better than the Megamix monstrosity. Without the toon shader, it actually reminds you of an actual project diva game.

Although some people (Mostly newcomers) actually like the graphics for the 'anime' look, does it look bad for half of the people who own it (including me)? Yes, it does. The toon shader quality literally changes in every song, from really bad and pixely to fair to quite good. I see MANY people complain how the toon shader gets in the way.

Although I can’t complain too much because nowadays, anime-like games have a toon shader, take Genshin Impact for example, I can even go on, they’re even successful with it because it’s intended to be completely anime like. even though Project DIVA is supposed to be PART anime-like, including the loading screens, modules and part of the idea for the game, not completely though! So why make it more anime if the modules aren’t intended to really be a sequel to Genshin Impact?

 I know what you're thinking,

"if you hate the graphics so much why didn't you get Dreamy Theater or Future Tone?" Very good question, you see, I always craved the look of Dreamy Theater ever since 2 years ago but the problem is, it's probably discontinued because I don't at all see it on the PlayStation Store, And getting a PS3 from eBay sounds a little risky since I don't know if it's a digital only or maybe even bricked, or just completely dysfunctional without explanation.

Even making a Japanese PSN account sounds a little risky since I don’t live in Japan and things can go wrong.

Project DIVA, originally meant to be an Arcade game and had many ports and changes to the modules over the years, the F and F2nd modules looked stunning, although it was a whole decade ago, it still looked nice and actually gives the whole Project DIVA feeling.

Everyone has different feelings about Megamix but I can just imagine the amount of people shoving aside the idea to buy it just for the graphics, am I nitpicking the game just for a silly billy toon shader? Yes, yes I am.

The toon shader kinda just ruins the whole idea of project DIVA. Why couldn't SEGA have the idea to atleast give the modules a Dreamy theater look with no toon shader? Or maybe atleast the Project DIVA F-X modules without the toon shader aswell because they already look downgraded from Future Tone but they actually give back the Project DIVA idea and look a LOT better than Megamix, you have literally no idea how much people would pay just to have those kind of graphics for the switch, or maybe give an option to turn off the toon shader since it just adds extra to the module?

and just talk about the lost features, in future tone, you could make your own loading screens from the screenshots. In the Megamix loading screens, Luka doesn’t even have a nose! Literally, NO one cares about mix mode and the custom T-shirt feature. have the developers completely missed the whole point of this game? This is an ARCADE game, not Roblox.

and I like how they make Megamix appear as a ‘new’ game, although it’s nothing but ported from future tone, but with lost good features, but with useless ones added, and the worst graphics you’ll ever see. Why couldn’t they just call it “Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Future Tone (Switch Edition)” or maybe like “Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA Dreamy Theater (Switch Edition)” maybe even “Hatsune Miku: Project DIVA  F/F2nd (Switch Edition)” and just make the graphics like it was in the other games with like I said, NO TOON SHADER. Or maybe port one of the older project diva games onto switch with no toon shader and that will be fine aswell.

I GUARANTEE this will increase sales and profit. But that’s probably not happening since it will take up more storage because once you buy all the DLC in MegaMix, it takes up 39.3 GBs. ‘Miku’ is a way to say ‘39’ in Japanese, it won’t kill anyone for the game to take ATLEAST 39.4 GBs. and GOD FORBID they screw up the 39.3 to a even a 40GB. What I’m saying is, nobody cares if the storage number for the game isn’t 39.3, just please fix the game!

Nintendo and Sega if you’re reading this, just keep in mind of all of the advice I gave you just now. I also know that is important for me to understand that the world does not revolve around me and that not everyone has my brain. this is just advice, so I am not trying to be mean to anyone or the developers who made this port for the Nintendo switch. Like I said, this will help both players playing the game and the companies who made the port itself. Thank you so much for taking your time to read this very long paragraph, I know it’s long but I just had so much on my mind. Thank you, Have a good day!! Toodles!
