Frequent and unpredictable tree falls, rock falls, landslides and landslips cause closures and traffic delays on the unsafe, unstable, unreliable and unsustainable Brown Mountain road.  Yet this is a strategic State highway - the key freight and tourism link between the Sapphire Coast and the Bega Valley to Cooma, Canberra and Sydney - as well as the Monaro and the Riverina. Delayed landslip repairs have restricted Brown Mountain to single-lane red light access for over 12 months with no information from Transport NSW when two-lane access will resume.
