People use google maps and earth to get a better grip of their surroundings and the world. The quality has considerably dropped since 2021 which makes orientating yourself considerably worse.

Blurry roofs, unclear vegetation, missing details... make it harder to spot landmarks when you're somewhere remote where gps signal might not be optimal. This might lead to people getting lost or misjudging the difficulties of a trail. It also makes planning a trip considerably harder because you can not memorize landmarks.

It is also harder to spot points of interests that might be fun to check out.

The low quality satilite images make the world look even more depressing then that it is. 

This not only impacts navigation but also information gathering and OSINT. Journalists rely on satelite images to confirm stories and spot large scale polution. Or track ships that bilge dump in the ocean.
