”thank you for your July 14, 2023 email regarding your concerns with condition and safety of highway 9, south of Hudson Bay, and the included petition showing your community’s support. I appreciate the opportunity to respond.
Safety continues to be a top priority for the government of Saskatchewan and is something we keep in mind as we design, build, and maintain our provincial transportation system. Your concerns have been forwarded to all appropriate ministry officials responsible for highway 9.
As we have previously discussed, rehabilitation work on Highway 9 between usherville and highway 983 has been ongoing since the beginning of this construction season. Our maintenance crews have been working hard to execute our two-year strategic rehabilitation plan and perform routine maintenance including hand and machine patching, deep patching and spot sealing.
a field review was conducted on July 5, 2023, assessing the condition of highway 9, from highway 982 to highway 983. This review was performed by numerous ministry officials and external consultants to review maintenance plans and assess for future improvements. The ministry will continue to regularly monitor the safety and performance of this highway and perform any additional maintenance needed. For the remainder of 2023 maintenance crews plan to complete additional routine maintenance along this section.
thank you once again for bringing your concerns to our attention.”
