1. Hundreds of teams play softball at SFV Basin, Hjelte, Balboa, and other Los Angeles county fields each week.  We are asked to sign safety waivers despite knowing they are poorly maintained and hazardous.  Signing this petition shows your support for safer softball fields.

Infield conditions are inconsistent and dangerous causing many bad hops.  Sometimes there is surface dirt, sometimes not.    Infields are rarely even and often covering holes, dips and dirt mounds.  The batter's box is often over 6 inches below field level.

Drainage is always an issue from watering or rain.

The outfield topography is never consistent with mounds and dips.  The grass, when there often obscures the danger.  Gopher holes are often present and unseen.  Occasionally these holes are covered with soft dirt creating the illusion they are stable.  The outfield conditions are always inconsistent and dangerous. 

The City of Los Angeles has an obligation to protect the safety of all players.  We pay league fees that supplement our taxes and demand our fields be kept up to the same standards found in nearby cities and counties. Our fields are not. 

This petition will be shared with everyone from LA Parks and Recreation, City, State and Congressional representatives as well as the media.
