Good Evening!
Some news on the full replacement bus service from our area to Keynsham and details of the timetable.
From Monday 14th November 2016, First will be introducing the 19A service which will operate between Cribbs Causeway and Bath via Keynsham. The 19A will operate alongside the 19.
The 19 will be keeping it's current route of Cribbs Causeway to Bath via Bitton & Kelston, operating hourly, Monday to Sunday, from around 6am to 11pm.
The 19A will operate Monday to Saturday, hourly, from around 7am to 7pm. The route of the 19A from Cribbs Causeway to the Grange School in Warmley will remain the same as service 19. After this point, towards Bath, the service will operate along Tower Road South, to Cloverlea Road and Millers Drive in North Common. It will then serve Oldland Common High Street, then Willsbridge, Keynsham, Saltford, Newton-St-Loe and then Bath.
I am currently in contact with First because once again, they have timetabled a bus service to operate along Oldland Common High Street where there isn't a single bus stop! At present, First's temporary 19B to Keynsham (running only between 10am and 2pm Mon-Fri) currently uses this route. We don't want the 19A running along Oldland High Street too! The 19 uses Oldland's West Street and will continue to do so in November. Before it was withdrawn, the 17A to Keynsham also used North Street and West Street in Oldland... we need the 19A to too!
By not serving North Street and West Street in Oldland Common, service 19A will be missing out on 4 stops in each direction. At present, the temporary 19B (only to Keynsham) uses the High Street route, meaning the nearest stops for Oldland residents are either those in North Common, The Dolphin stop or The Beeches stop. Please voice your concerns - we need a full service in Oldland Common. Email firstsouthuk@firstgroup.com or call First on 0117 244 40 40.
It's great however, that the area will be regaining a bus service to Keynsham, and it's great that the 19A will be serving North Common. For the first ever time, we will also be gaining a direct service to Saltford, with some areas gaining their very first direct service to Bath and Cribbs Causeway.
If you would like to view the new timetable for the 19 and 19A, coming into force from Sunday 13th November, please see this link (Traveline South West website). http://www.travelinesw.com/swe/TTB/EFA01__00004c71_TP.pdf
I have emailed James Freeman (Managing Director of First) and First Bus themselves about the 19A not serving Oldland Common - only serving Oldland High Street instead. If and when I receive a response, I will let you all know what the situation is.
Thank you all very much for your support, and please get in touch with First - either by email - firstsouthuk@firstgroup.com or by phone 0117 244 40 40, to express your views on the 19A using Oldland Common (North Street & West Street).
A quick note that also from 14th November, service 37 will return to it's old route - serving Kelston & Bitton, rather than Keynsham. There will be no changes to Service 42.
Thank you :)
Scott
