Noah Schnapp is an actor the world has come to know from Netflix hit series “Stranger Things.” 

October of 2023, Schnapp took to social media with several problematic comments and post regarding the Isreal-Hamas attacks including liking videos mocking Islam and pro Palestine supporters and flaunting “Zionist Is Sexy” stickers on his social media page with over 24 Million followers. As a well known actor, his beliefs shouldn't align with filthy ideologies like Zionism which is actually based on racism. A line has been crossed. His words and actions have been deemed extremely offensive and harmful to the Muslim community, it makes light of the severity of the innocent deaths and destruction that has been inflicted and should be held accountable to the highest degree.

 

• Zionist ~ is someone who supports Jews' right to self-determination in their historic homeland and Israel's right to exist.

• Genocide ~ the deliberate killing of a large number of people from a particular nation or ethnic group with the aim of destroying that nation or group.

Noah Schapp’s words: “You either stand with Isreal or you stand with terrorism. It shouldn’t be a difficult choice. Shame on you.”

I, along with many others have since called for the rightful firing of Schnapp from the Nextflix series. Celebration of genocide should not be taken lightly in any shape or form and any network that will willingly feature a person with such horrendous beliefs on their platform should also be held equally accountable.

Since then, Noah Schnapp has released a statement on his social media claiming his views have been “misconstrued” by the public. There was no immediate response of clarity the moment he began to receive backlash. And his statement comes only a week into the production of the newest season of Stranger Things. I strongly believe Netflix is only trying to address this issue away to avoid bad publicity for the new season and exult the actor from any real consequences. This is simply unacceptable. No matter how much popularity the show have garnered and how much of that is due to Schnapps’ character, he should rightfully face consequences to his action rather than trying to sweep the issue under the rug.

However, it’s not enough to simply call for his firing. Just like Hulu, Apple TV, Vudu, or any other streaming platform, Netflix operates solely off its audience’s revenue. As of 2024, Netflix has the total number of subscribers 247.2 million worldwide. As of January 16, 2024, over 100,000 plus more social media users, whom we can assume are Netflix users have spoken out against the actor. As the writer of this petition, I’m requesting that if we do not get the proper recognition from Netflix as we desire, that we then proceed to boycott the network and its newest season of Stranger Things.
