Fire UCISD Chief Pete Arredondo: His Incompetence Cost 21 Lives

Fire UCISD Chief Pete Arredondo: His Incompetence Cost 21 Lives
The Issue
May 24, 2022 started like any other day. Parents went off to work, children went off to school, all was well in the world. At 11:33 am, after shooting his grandmother in the face, a shooter entered Robb Elementary School and massacred 19 students and 2 teachers. He injured many others on his rampage and effectively forever changed the small tranquil town of Uvalde, Tx.
At the helm of the police presence was UCISD Chief of Police Pete Arredondo. A Chief of police who told The Texas Tribune, “that he didn't consider himself the person in charge as it unfolded and ASSUMED someone else had taken control of the law enforcement response.” Pete Arredondo also told The Texas Tribune “he intentionally left behind both his police and campus radios before entering Robb Elementary School.” He claimed “He wanted both hands free to hold his gun, ready to aim and fire quickly and accurately if he encountered the gunman.” The only problem is he never entered the room. For 77 minutes he called (from his cell phone) for shields, back up, more back up, tools to breach the door, a key from a janitor. He called for everything except on himself and the courage to go in. 77 minutes of terror he waited outside
There are SO MANY questions still lingering and SO MANY holes in his story. Neither him nor Uvalde’s elected officials are coming forth with the truth. THEY themselves are revictimizing the same families that Pete failed. THEY ARE COVERING UP FOR HIM.
We, the people, of Uvalde and surrounding areas call for the resignation or firing of Pete Arredondo as UCISD Police Department Chief of Police AND city counsel. He has already proven that he is incapable of caring for our most precious gift that God has given us, children. We SHOULD NOT trust him to make any decisions that impact so many any more!! 77 minutes he took to make a decision. 77 minutes he let those kids and teachers bleed out. 77 minutes. 19 children. 2 teachers.
