From school board to school board and job to job, the current Superintendent of Smyth County Schools has left a trail of concern and disappointment. This individual, motivated by personal gain, has repeatedly let down our community, prioritizing financial interests over the well-being of our children and educators. He has gone so far as to take away bonuses from our hardworking teachers, stripping them of hard-earned incentives, which are vital for their morale and recognition.

Worse yet, the Superintendent has chosen to ignore serious reports of abuse impacting some of the most vulnerable members of our community: non-verbal children who deserve as much of a voice and protection as any other student. These children rely on the adults around them to advocate for their safety and rights, yet their pleas have allegedly been brushed aside under his leadership.

Most alarming of all, there are ongoing cover-ups concerning sexual misconduct affecting underage children by a male teacher in the district. Protecting the reputation of the institution should never take precedence over the safety and dignity of our students. This is a gross violation of trust and an unforgivable failure in duty by the individual entrusted to oversee and safeguard the school environment.

We demand transparency, accountability, and justice for all members of our school community. We call upon the Smyth County School Board to terminate the employment of the Superintendent immediately. Our children deserve a safe, nurturing educational environment led by someone who genuinely cares about their welfare and the integrity of our schools.
