Fire Ryan Aspiri from CWU Dining Services

The Issue

Ryan Aspiri has been reported by many students who work in cwu dining services over the past few years and he still is working along the side of students who feel unsafe and uncomfortable around him.

CWU Observer posted an article in their newspaper on January 19th, 2022 that only touches the surface of everything. (Article linked below). From stories of student employees, witnessing and personal experience, Aspiri has made nearly all the female student employees he's worked with feel uncomfortable and unsafe in the work environment.

Student employees have heard him talk about women's bodies (specifically breasts), Aspiri has brought up his own dating/sex life and asked student employees about theirs, as well as said that the only way women should be in charge is if they're dressed sexy. Aspiri would also refuse to help students on the job after he heard that they reported his behavior to management. Aspiri has also made it uncomfortable or difficult for current and former student employees, who have reported him, to buy food on campus. These students stay clear of where he is working that day just so they can get a meal without feeling harassed.

(Take this with a grain of salt). There has also been talk about how Aspiri would ask some of the female employees to meet up outside of work to hang out and saying how management doesn't need to find out.

The way that dining services have dealt with this does not make female employees feel safe whether they are on the clock or not. Aspiri has been getting reported for more years than dated in the CWU Observer article and has just been getting pushed to different dining locations to work where he can continue to make the female employees feel uncomfortable.

Student female employees are not the only ones who have been affected or feel uncomfortable. Some customers have talked to student staff about how they would see him staring at them for a long period of time.

Aspiri is someone who should not be working anywhere that involves students. Due to his inappropriate remarks about women's bodies, asking personal questions, and his unwillingness to help student employees with their job or get a meal after being reported.
