Dear Supporters,

We want to take a moment to update you on the current status of our ongoing efforts to address the illegal RV parking on Flickinger Ave. While we have seen some progress in the removal of RVs parked next to the park, it is with frustration that we report no meaningful action has been taken by the City regarding the RVs illegally parked next to residential areas, particularly between the 7-Eleven and Doxey Pl.

This lack of action by the city, which has now persisted for over 9 months, continues to create significant concerns, including:

Safety Concerns: The presence of these RVs is a growing threat to the safety of residents, especially near homes and play areas.
Health Hazards: The accumulation of waste, debris, and unsanitary conditions poses a serious risk to public health.
Disturbances and Illicit Activity: We have received ongoing reports of loud disturbances, as well as signs of illicit behavior, impacting the daily lives of nearby residents.
Fire Hazards: The RVs are parked in a way that could pose fire risks, with some using makeshift electrical hookups and other unsafe practices.
Persistent Non-Compliance: Despite numerous complaints, these RVs remain in violation of city regulations, with no sustained enforcement in place.

It seems that the City’s priorities lie elsewhere, focusing on serving businesses in downtown and large real estate firms rather than addressing the pressing needs of residents in this district. As we pointed out in the original petition, the City’s continued inaction in the face of these serious, repeated complaints raises legal concerns. By failing to address these clear and present dangers, the City may be exposing itself to liability for neglecting its responsibility to ensure public safety, health, and quality of life.

We urge the City to take immediate enforcement measures, including:

  • Issuing citations
  • Towing illegally parked vehicles
  • Implementing consistent monitoring to prevent the RVs from simply returning after temporary relocations
