In 2022, Warner Bros. Animation began work on an animated musical for the Looney Tunes characters called “Bye Bye Bunny”. This was in production before being shelved in 2024. However, some voice acting had been finished and a few songs recorded. In fact, there’s a clip on YouTube released of Eric Bauza singing “Why Do I Gotta Be Bugs Bunny?” It’s pretty darn good! Fast forward 2 years, and Coyote VS ACME finally releases and becomes a hit at over $120M worldwide! Eric Bauza spearheaded the fan campaign to get it released, and did some incredible voicework! The film was critically acclaimed and got people talking about the Tunes again.

Then, this past week brought the shocking news of Bauza’s unexpected passing :(. And in a big surprise, both Variety and Hollywood Reporter confirmed something a lot of us didn’t expect. “Bye Bye Bunny” had secretly re-entered pre-production, and Bauza had been hard at work on it. Which makes this news even sadder.

And with WB now part of Skydance, I think everyone isn’t sure of the film’s fate. Hollywood Reporter even said that its fate is “uncertain”.

I think it’s time that we, the fans, stand up for Eric’s legacy. He stood up for us to get Coyote VS ACME out of the vault and into theaters. Now it’s time for us to do the same for him and his final Looney Tunes project. Let’s make a statement that WB Animation needs to bring this film back into production officially and finish it. For Eric. Even if it’s not a theatrical release, let’s get it made people!
