Financial education
The Issue
Our high school students need at least 24 credits to graduate high school. At least 6 of the 24 credits must be electives, but students can take more if they choose. Electives are such as art, music, theater, ect…, that’s at LEAST 6 classes total in 4 years. In West Virginia we do NOT teach a personal finance class in our public schools. It would be wise to remove one of those elective classes and replace it with a personal finance class as the younger generations do not understand how the stock market works, how to properly handle their bills and budgeting, as well as how things such as inflation and how taxes works. I petition 1 of the 6 electives be replace be replaced with a personal finance class.
