This amendment would empower Colorado to respond to unprecedented circumstances that threaten our citizens rights for fair and true representation.

We, the undersigned residents of Colorado, call on our state legislators and the Governor to support a constitutional amendment enabling emergency redistricting under the following conditions:

• A federal court finds another state’s maps unconstitutional or in violation of voting rights.
• A clear national imbalance in representation is demonstrated by nonpartisan analysis.
• A supermajority of Colorado’s Independent Redistricting Commission votes to initiate the process.

This amendment must:

• Preserve all existing standards for transparency, competitiveness, and community representation.
