Fight against AI slop in social media
The Issue
Social media policies have not caught up with the sudden developments in the AI industry. Currently, we have been left with social media that is rife with misinformation and some creators are profiting from this system that capitalises on hate as a form of engagement.
Several real artists and influencers are also affected by this influx of AI generated content. AI relies entirely on art styles by real artists. AI cannot try things in real life and cannot give real opinions. We cannot hold AI accountable for endorsing brands that are unreliable and there is a large enough percentage of the population that blindly believe this misinformation.
Changes proposed so far are:
- Removing any monetisation whatsoever over accounts or content that is entirely generated by AI.
- Introduce a tag like the blue tick that tags users whose entire content is AI generated. Especially for AI influencers.
- Allow users to report accounts and posts as AI generated and verify.
- Have a reasonable self-reporting process in the case where a non-AI accounts or posts accidentally get flagged as AI.
- Bring back the bold “made with AI” tag for posts made with AI instead of the subtle “AI info” tag.
