Please rally at Nagel Middle School on Wednesday, June 29, at 5:45 PM, to show the incoming Superintendent how our community feels about Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and the ban on anti-racism.
1. On June 22, 2022, the Forest Hills Board of Education passed a resolution that bans anti-racism.
2. On June 23, 2022, community members were invited to meet two Superintendent finalists, including Mr. Larry Hook. During Q&A with the audience, Mr. Hook admits that he agrees with components of the resolution.
3. On June 24, 2022, Forest Hills Board of Education received notice from a law firm that, "the resolution violates numerous established legal and Constitutional rights, and will subject the Board and this school district to lawsuits and potential legal liability."
4. On June 24, 2022, Forest Hills Board of Education received a statement signed by 13 members of the community group who were present to meet the Superintendent candidates, stating their belief that Mr. Hook would not be the correct choice to support unifying our district.
5. On June 25, 2022, a petition asking the board to repeal the resolution was published. As of 8 PM on June 27, 2022, it has over 1700 signatures.
6. On June 27, 2022, Forest Hills Board of Education announced Mr. Hook as the new Superintendent.
We believe in upholding our standard of high quality education, which includes the ability to foster inclusion for all students. We believe the resolution must be repealed. We believe the right candidate can help our community come together.
