Few hours left! Urge the Ugandan Government to Halt Inhumane Culling of Stray Animals
The Issue
As a deeply concerned individual, I am alarmed by the planned mass killing of stray dogs and cats in Kajjansi town council by the Ugandan government, scheduled for November 21, 2024. This inhumane act of atrocity against innocent animals is upsetting, distressing and unsustainable. Mass culling has not only been exposed as a short-term fix, but it further threatens our moral fabric as a compassionate society.
Instead, we propose that the Ugandan government consider implementing effective, humane and sustainable methods of controlling the animal population. Programs such as Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) and vaccinations for diseases like rabies have proven highly effective in several countries. For example, according to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, TNR programs in parts of the US such as New Jersey and New York have resulted in a significant reduction in the stray animal population over the years. These measures save lives while safeguarding public health.
With just hours left until the scheduled mass killing is set to commence, it is more urgent than ever that we each extend a helping hand. These animals deserve our empathy, not a merciless end. Join us in urging the Ugandan government to reconsider their decision and choose compassion over cruelty. Please, sign this petition today.
