I thank Graeme's wife for telling his story below: Graeme, 76 yrs old has pleural mesothelioma. He had a persistant cough which he thought was bronchitis. Further tests followed till the diagnosis in September 2014. Graeme underwent chemotherapy of Cisplatin & Alimta until December 2015 when the Cisplatin caused a reaction. He stopped the Alimta as well & started on Gemcitibine which killed around 90% of the cancer over three months so that wasn’t not good enough. Now it’s Keytruda & Graeme has only had 2 treatments to date. He’s feeling SO much better. The tiredness has gone & he can function as he should. He’s walking again which is a huge relief . Graeme’s cancer is Stage 3 & it’s still terminal but he’s outlived the prognosis of 10-14 months. He is slowly putting back the 6 kgs he lost at the beginning of treatment. Graeme's exposure as plumber in his early career from 1956 to 1975 we know this is the time he was exposed to asbestos. There weren't any safety rules then & asbestos sheeting was cut etc without any masks or thought of any devastating diseases as a result. Unfortunately Keytruda is costly however, what’s a life worth? The ruling parties would do well to consider this when Keytruda could save so many people who didn’t ask for or deserve this disease!
