Below is a very sad letter I received informing me that this beautiful lady's husband has just died from Mesothelioma after a 20 month brave battle. She wanted the letter published to help in getting Keytruda fast tracked on PBS as unfortunately once mesothelioma takes hold there is no stopping it. It is an aggressive and brutal cancer. (I have kept names out of this letter).
Hello Lou,
My husband and I have been reading the information and stories you have shared through change.org. We were very heartened by the improvement in your health through the effects of Keytruda.
Sadly my darling passed away on Monday 8th February after a twenty month battle with mesothelioma. He underwent six lots of chemo which did help reduce the amount of cancer, however it metasised into the bowel and caused obstructions. He had surgery for two obstructions, the first in September and the second December 2015. Unfortunately he developed another one in late January. He did not want to have further surgery and his doctors did not want to operate again as he was so weakened and only weighed 44 kgs.
His wish was to die at home, so we brought him home from hospital on Boxing Day and as his health declined was cared for by the palliative care nurses and myself. Our children have been a wonderful support and stayed with us to help with the night shifts attending to him in the last couple of weeks.
Thank you for your continued efforts on behalf of other sufferers. I do hope that Keytruda will soon be available on the PBS to give others a chance at life.
With warm regards.
