It's March 31'st and unfortunately many of us still find ourselves facing rent and mortgage payments tomorrow and the government has chosen to shrug it's shoulders and do nothing.  They have time and again recognized the dire predicament we are in with having to choose between paying this month's rent or mortgages or reserving funds to pay for essentials such as food and medication throughout this pandemic and has chosen to provide no concrete support. Many of our numbers have been out of work for weeks due to Covid-19 and simply do not have the funds to pay rent tomorrow.  

Government officials at all levels have publicly acknowledged this petition and the dire need it speaks to but have chosen to leave the burden of negotiating with our landlords and mortgage providers in our hands.  It is simply unacceptable to mandate the closure of businesses, mandate social distancing to keep us safe but not provide us with the political framework necessary to facilitate this.  We do not elect our government and give them the power to protect us only to have them place the burden back in our hands.

We have one day left to show our support for our friends, family and neighbours who are doing their part to help keep us safe by staying home, self isolating and not earning the income necessary to survive.  If you can, please continue to share this petition, call and email your local MPP and let's continue to deliver the message to all levels of government that they cannot abandon us in our time of need.  There is also a shareable link to a small video asking to support the petition here:
