It would be wonderful if we owned the land and could preserve it all. And maybe we will have a miracle and that will happen. But right now RMD Properties owns it and under the current zoning they can develop 50 acres in the 72 acre RSF-4 on the west side of the mountain. We just don't want them to develop and destroy any more which the rezoning will allow. The article did not describe us correctly.

We need at least 30 people speaking at the podium against rezoning on Oct 2. We shouldn't mention a nature and wildlife preserve. We need to give many reasons why the current zoning is best. We need different people speaking statistics on traffic problems, new road construction problems, sewage capacity problems, new water tower and Drake fly zone conflict, pollution, etc. if rezoned. We need mighty warrior volunteers to speak with confidence and kindness. It needs to be made clear over and over again that Specialized REG can develop 50 acres right now. Just not the 72 acre PZD and not 30% of the 72 acre RSF-4 (because of the hillside/hilltop ordinance). This fits best with the surrounding neighborhoods. Markham Hill becoming more commercialized and RIU (unlimited houses and living units per acre) would not be appropriate development for our area. We need many people explaining this over and over to the City Council on Oct 2.

Who cares if Specialized REG promises 44 acres of preserved conservation easement on the far west side of the mountain next to the highway if their high density development and commercialization of 100 acres on the top, north, south, and east (adjacent to the low density rural residential neighborhoods) does such great harm?
