The Eastern Bridge project is moving into its next phase!

The Impact Assessment Agency of Canada has released the initial project description that will inform the functional design of the new bridge and evaluate potential environmental, health, social, and economic effects of the project.  The new bridge is expected to feature pedestrians and cyclist lanes separated from vehicular traffic, personal and commercial vehicles lanes, sustainable travel by investing in infrastructure for public transit, and improvements that will make transportation more efficient and help reduce environmental impact.

You can participate in this phase by:

If you think this project should be fast-tracked, please share this petition to help show there is public support for putting shovels in the ground as soon as the impact assessment is done!

Last week, the mayors of Gatineau and Ottawa signed an economic co-operation pact to recognize the National Capital Region as one integrated regional economy. This agreement will help reduce barriers to interprovincial trade and strengthen transportation links. While much of the land impacted by the new crossing is under federal or provincial control, strong support and cooperation from the municipalities of Ottawa and Gatineau will help fast track this project. Send a message to Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe or Gatineau Mayor Maude Marquis-Bissonnette to share your support for the new Eastern Bridge.
