The Issue

Nearly a decade ago, UK supermarket Farmfoods made a promise to stop keeping hens in cruel, cramped cages by the end of 2025.

Now, bosses at Farmfoods have betrayed hens and their customers by abandoning their promise.

What does this mean? Over 100,000 hens will be forced to spend their lives standing on wire-mesh floors in dark, hellish cages. Meanwhile, George and Eric Herd, the father and son leaders of Farmfoods, will continue profiting from cruelty.

And get this: one of Farmfoods’ excuses for continuing to use caged eggs is a ‘lack of supply’. But that doesn’t add up: over 80% (and increasing) of the UK egg industry is now cage-free!

We need your help to stop this shocking betrayal by bosses at Farmfoods. Every other major UK supermarket has committed to stop using cages and the UK is rapidly moving away from this outdated and cruel practice. It’s time that Farmfoods got with the times.

Together, we are powerful. Just recently, our campaign - backed by thousands of you - forced Iceland bosses into reinstating their cage-free commitment, winning better lives for thousands of hens. Now, will you sign this petition to demand that bosses at Farmfoods reinstate their cage-free commitment immediately?

Together, I know we will secure better lives for thousands of sensitive, intelligent hens.
