Petition updateFarm Boy: Enough with the excessive plastic packaging!Plastic Free July - what single-use plastic are you choosing to REFUSE?
Eugenie WatersOttawa, Canada

It's still early in July and not too late to join the Plastic Free July Campaign... just choose to refuse single-use plastic!

If you're just starting out, start with one small change (ie. refusing single-use grocery bags, disposable coffee cups, single-use plastic cutlery, etc) and try to stick to it for the month of July. Changing habits takes practice so don't be discouraged if you forget or miss an opportunity, just try again the next time!

One easy change mentioned in this petition is to start using reusable produce bags. It would be wonderful if Farm Boy stores made these easily available for sale and stopped providing single-use plastic produce bags. But in the meantime, consider purchasing reusable produce bags, making your own from re-purposed fabric/textile waste (lots of ideas online!), or looking around your home for thin cloth/mesh bags that you could re-purpose and use for produce!

It’s also worth asking if you really need a plastic bag. For example, if you just need a couple onions or peppers, why not just keep them loose in your shopping cart and transport them home loose in your reusable shopping bag?

How we spend our dollars as consumers has an influence on businesses. Let's choose plastic-free produce at Farm Boy stores and make sure they know that the plastic pollution crisis matters to us and we are eager and ready for change!

Thanks for your ongoing support of this petition!!!

Please continue to talk about it and share it with your friends, family and colleagues:)

Sincerely,

Eugenie, Marie-Eve and Jos
