Accountability for the DEATH Regarding ELAZER JAMES BLACK on 5/31/2020 at SVSP PRISON
The Issue
I'm writing this today to pled for the assistance of the general public to gain justice for our loved one. Please contact the county appointed Senator Anna Caballero at 831-769-8086 and D.A. office Jackie Monterey (831) 755-5241 Please be respectful and ask them to investigate into Elazer James Black case at Salinas Valley State Prison and prosecute all suspect's involved.
Dear the Governor of California, Mayor of Monterey, Senator and Representatives.
As reasons for our request, please understand the unexpected and unlawful hardship and burdens our families, friends, and loved-ones have been faced with by the DEATH of Elazer James Black.
If a crime victim believes that a public agency or its officials are violating the victim's rights, the victim may file a lawsuit, demanding enforcement and requesting damages for harm caused by the violation of the constitutional right but no amount of money will bring our brother back for which we demand that justice is served in place and everyone responsible for his death is prosecuted.
We are the brothers and sister of Elazer James Black but lost the youngest of us all in custody at the Salinas Valley State Prison. James was a very respectful, caring and family orientated man. James loved his family beyond words can express. His life was taken too soon and a day before his birthday at that; May 31st, 2020 at Salinas Valley State Prison. We didn't even get an opportunity to wish him a Happy Birthday.
This is heartbreaking for our entire family to lose our baby brother, son, uncle, cousin and grandson especially when we thought he would be safe in Prison. We the FAMILY NEED all suspect's that are involved in the death of our family member prosecuted. Our grandmother wants nothing more but to know justice is served for James before she is laid to rest. This is such a tragic and unexpected situation for our family right now and this is no pain we wish on any human being. All we want to do is the same thing James would do for us and that is get justice for James life.
WE DEMAND: NO INMATES INVOLVED return back to day room or their solidarity until a full investigation is completed.
WE DEMAND: Victims' rights are legal rights afforded to victims of crime. These may include the right to restitution, the right to a victims' advocate, the right not to be excluded from criminal justice proceedings, and the right to speak at criminal justice proceedings.
This change will make a big impact on the family because no man or woman should be killed in the safety of the prison system and not get the justice they deserve. There is a lot more that I can say about my brother. However it is hard so difficult to express anything because of all this pain and anger felt by our family, its our job as older siblings to protect our baby brother and weren't able to do that.
So if you are wondering why you should sign this petition just put yourself in our shoes and imagine if it was one of your siblings whose live was stolen from him. Would you want to get Justice for them or would you want to just let the system let it go?
Thank you for taking your time out to read this petition I hope you find it in your heart to not only sign but make a call to the Senate and DA office and demand we fight this case and get deserved justice.
