August 14, 2025 marked 40 years since Kristin O’Connell was brutally taken from her family and the world on August 14, 1985
In Ovid, New York community members gathered for a solemn candlelight walk along the path Kristin walked that night, culminating in a moment of silence at the spot where her body was discovered. They carried candles, read Kristin’s poem, and renewed their plea for justice through full DNA testing .
In her hometown of Burnsville, Minnesota, friends and family joined in remembrance. Kristin’s mother shared the pain of a murder that remains unsolved after four decades, yet expressed new hope that new forensic technologies may finally bring answers.
But there is still more we must do
