Something big is happening — and I need you in it.
I wrote to my MPP, Jennie Stevens, about the crisis facing Registered Dietitians in Ontario. The underpayment. The underutilization. The workforce quietly eroding while chronic disease rates climb.
And her office wrote back.
Not a form letter. A real response — acknowledging the issues, committing to raise them internally, and inviting me to Queen's Park this fall to continue the conversation in person.
I accepted.
But one RD. One MPP. One riding.
That's not enough to move policy.
HERE IS WHAT WILL:
If RDs across Ontario write to THEIR MPP — in every region, every riding, every party — this stops being one constituent's concern and becomes a province-wide pattern that caucus cannot ignore.
And this isn't just Ontario. 817 Canadians have already signed our national petition. RDs from coast to coast know this is broken. Ontario has the chance to lead — and when Ontario acts, other provinces follow.
✅ THREE THINGS I'M ASKING YOU TO DO TODAY:
1️⃣ Write to your MPP. Find yours at ola.org/en/members
. Tell them you are a Registered Dietitian (or that you rely on one). Tell them the system is undervaluing a profession that prevents disease, reduces hospitalizations, and saves healthcare dollars. Make it personal. Make it real. Email copy & paste updated templates here: https://lnkd.in/ec8Tvk_v
2️⃣ Share the petition again!
3️⃣ Share this post. Tag every RD, dietetic intern, allied health colleague, and patient advocate in your network. The more MPPs hear this — independently, from their own constituents — the louder this gets.
The door is open. Let's make sure every MPP in Ontario hears the knock.
