Today, the Kent School district teachers enter day 8 of walking the line. The district continues to try to strike contract language that allows us to file grievances and gives release time to our union leadership.
in addition to that, the district still refuses to budge on getting students the mental health therapists they need after 2+ years of pandemic trauma. The compensation offered does not keep up with cost of living, and is only .8% above the state issued COLA with a small one time stipend for the first year. The class size and case load remains above what our students and teachers need to be successful.
We remain united and committed to walking the line until the district presents an offer that is fair and competitive. With many other districts heading towards possible strikes, we set the example that unions matter and solidarity matters! Please continue to share this petition so our superintendent and board see that we will wait as long as it takes to get what our students and educators deserve.
