UT Community, as the people who live and work on campus we all know how valuable and important it is to create a place that values all members of our campus. We know that the Office of Diversity and Inclusiveness has not overstepped its mission, no one has canceled Christmas, rather they help us see that we are made up of many different traditions. Creating a space where people of all faiths and non-believers can live and work together is being interpreted as a threat by people who do not walk our halls. These politicians are putting extreme pressure on UT leaders to take "action". We have voiced support for Chancellor Cheek - we must also voice our support for Vice Chancellor Rickey Hall. Do not let VC Hall become a scapegoat. Do not let President DiPietro use him to calm the vocal few. This is a teachable moment and we need to protect the special place that UT could become with the hard work of Vice Chancellor Hall and his staff.
