In this election season, despite growing concerns from voters, candidates for office have been silent about DC policy that perpetuates the bike menace on DC streets.
Attorney General candidate Manuel Rivera has taken a bold stand and challenged his rival, incumbent Brian Schwalb. Responding to requests from the DC Safe Streets Coalition to all candidates this year, Rivera help us prepare an E-Bike Bill. Other candidates meanwhile have been silent to the spike in bike injuries and to DC policies that promote fear and confusion on DC streets.
DC Safe Streets Coalition is petitioning the Council to regulate e-bikes, including to registration and tags to promote accountability and enforcement. The Bill also addresses the misuse of E-bikes by children and the role that bikeshare companies play in children’s access to e-bikes. Let's get a sponsor in the DC Council.
Rivera has prepared a video explaining his three guiding principles: Public safety. Transparency. And equal application of law. His video, “Why Has D.C.’s Attorney General Brian Schwalb Been Silent on E-Bike Regulation? Manuel Rivera Unveils His Theory.” also examines professional and corporate connections Rivera believes deserve public scrutiny, here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZdI4KAWoXAA
