In a time where we preach for equality having a sticker that states “mute white people” is not the way to create equality and simply opens up more possibilities for racism.  Being a white person I feel attacked for no real reason, and I  think this sticker should be removed from all apps and social media.  I believe in equality for all, but that will not be solved by silencing others.  We all know this sticker is not a correct solution to create equality.  America is the land of the free and the first amendment states that all citizens have freedom of speech and freedom of the press, this sticker is blatantly trying to infringe on our basic freedoms and rights as Americans.  If the sticker is not removed by Facebook or Instagram I hope the government will see this as a passive aggressive attack on the civil rights of white people, most of which have nothing to do with any racial injustices in this country.  While this may not be the most important target of racial inequality I still feel as if it is important enough to be recognized by the people of America and the US Government.  Let’s create equality and end racism one small step at a time.  Please sign this petition if you support deleting the sticker that states “mute white people” off of all social media and apps.
