Facebook needs to actually provide proper support to their users, especially business!
The issue
Facebook’s community support has many examples of user accounts that can’t be recovered.
I personally just got blocked recently and asked to complete a “checkpoint” process.
If you get this dreaded message there is a good chance you can kiss your Facebook profile goodbye...
"We're sorry to hear that you're having trouble accessing your Facebook account, but we think it may be compromised. To keep your information safe, we've locked your account. Before we can unlock your account, we need you to complete a quick security check. Please enter your login information at www.facebook.com and follow the onscreen instructions."
So if this worked it would be this fine, however...
The process seems bug-ridden and despite trying different browsers and computers I get stuck on a spinning blue button. So that means you can no longer get into your account but you have no way to contact them. Just google the problem and you will see numerous people who have never been able to get back in going back for years. Even found one post back in 2013.
I tried to contact FB ad support who essentially told me they can't help (even though I am a business customer/advertiser of theirs):
Here's what they said:
"I would suggest reporting it through this form: https://www.facebook.com/help/contact/?id=179049432194862"
So you can fill out a form that says “Thanks for taking the time to submit a report. While we don't reply to every report, we'll let you know if we need more details. ”
The form doesn’t even ask for your email address (so pretty much means they are never getting back to you)
If all else fails they just send you to a community area for other users to help you!
Facebook needs to actually support their users with real people. Of course, there need to be some barriers but why can business the size of Facebook get to simply ignore their users after many people like myself rely on it for business.
I think many business owners are affected by this and really brings home that you don't own your profile or any data/connections attached to it.
For me, the issue of being blocked means my business is adversely affected because your profile is your gateway to groups, ads, business pages. You lose all of that as a consequence. So for example, if your the only admin to a group then your group is on its own.
As a business owner I have to support my customers, just makes sense. But Facebook gets to hide behind a faceless website. Most of the other social media platforms try this trick as well in various degrees.
So I'm angry now and I want to direct my focus to something positive since I'm not on Facebook, please sign this petition and help spread the word!
To me it's not too much to ask, is it Mark?
