My name is Kyal Sorensen, I am 9 years old and I am a footballer from Queensland, Australia. The recent tragic news about the passing of 9 year old Jordan Banks who was reported to have been struck by lightning during a football training session has had an impact on the entire football community — especially junior players like myself — across the world. https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-england-lancashire-57083921

I am asking you to sign this important petition my dad and I have created, and please share it far.

1. We the signers of this petition ask that the world football governing body FIFA legislate a new law of the game called the 'Jordan Rule' and that this rule is applied worldwide to all football organisations and member bodies.

We ask that the 'Jordan Rule' be reformed and designed to prevent the playing of football, training of football and outdoor football activities for all junior players during lightning or storm events where weather may pose a real threat to the lives or safety of young players and spectators.

We ask that the 'Jordan Rule', once legislated, be accompanied by an effective and meaningful educational and marketing campaign worldwide, and that the rule be incorporated into referee and coaches training and education elements of the game.

We ask that the 'Jordan Rule' become an official part of the Laws of the Game and that FIFA does more to better educate, inform and regulate the game with respect to lightning and storms so that all young players across the world can enjoy the game in a safer manner with less risk of adverse impacts from weather events.

We ask that the 'Jordan Rule' be enforced within all FIFA member organisations and be made to be the uniform standard and rule for protecting young players.

We ask that you name this new rule or set of rules the 'Jordan Rule' in the memory of Jordan Banks, a bright young footballer who left the game far too soon.
