World Dog Show China 2019 – The Position Of The VDH
After extensive preparation, the China Kennel Union became a contractual partner of the FCI in April 2006, an associated member of the FCI in July 2011 and ultimately a full-fledged FCI member in May 2013. This is backed by all other member countries of the FCI. No ethical or political objections have been made. Admittance into the FCI occured under democratic principles. With admittance as a member, the statutes of the FCI are consequently inextricably linked with certain rights and duties. These documented rights include candidacy in hosting a World Dog Show. China has made use of this right. Such a bid must be democratically decided by the general assembly. This procedure has been recognized by all member countries, therby, if nothing else, exhibiting that absolutely no objections have been voiced and that the delegation present at the member assembly actively participated in the election. Germany was one of China’s opposing candidates.
The German delegation voted accordingly for Germany, but China received the majority of votes (Shanghai: 33 votes, Madrid: 14 votes, Leipzig: 13 votes, Zagreb: 8 votes). This democratic decision is respected by the VDH. China has the right to conduct the World Dog show in 2019. It is exceedingly important to the VDH to intensively support China Kennel Union’s much-needed efforts in improving living conditions of all dogs and stay in contact with them.
