Originally, we were informed that the deadline would be 15 November 2026, a date that allowed ample time for students and their families to arrange the necessary funds. However, the recent decision to move this deadline to 15 October 2026 is causing unnecessary financial strain. This abrupt change gives us a full month less to gather the resources required for our education, adding stress to what is already a challenging time for many.

University is a place where we are supposed to find support and stability as we pursue our academic goals, not unforeseen hurdles. Adjusting the deadline with such little notice disrupts this educational promise. Many students, including myself, rely on part-time jobs, scholarships, or financial aid packages that align with the academic calendar. For some, personal savings need to be coordinated with family budgets, making the additional month crucial for financial planning and execution.

The university administration has always shown a commitment to student welfare and understanding. Historically, deadlines were communicated well in advance, granting students sufficient time to prepare. By honoring the original deadline of 15 November 2026, the university can uphold its reputation as a supportive and student-centric institution.

Furthermore, abrupt changes such as these disproportionately affect students from low-income backgrounds, who may not have the same financial flexibility as others. It is imperative to consider the varying financial circumstances faced by the student body, and strive to create an inclusive and considerate academic environment.

We believe in the administration’s ability to empathize with our situation and act in a manner consistent with the values of fairness and support. We are not asking for special privileges, only for the fulfillment of what was initially promised.

Therefore, I urge the university to extend the deadline back to the original date of 15 November 2026. This adjustment would significantly alleviate the pressure on students and ensure that our focus remains on our studies rather than financial worries.
