Extend the 225 Bus Route from Hither Green Station to Bellingham Bus Station
The Issue
We call on Transport for London (TfL) to extend the southbound 225 bus route from Hither Green Station to Bellingham Bus Station, improving access to public transport for residents across Hither Green and Catford South.
Many residents living in the southern part of the Hither Green Ward are currently underserved by public transport and often face walks of more than 20 minutes to reach Hither Green Station. While London has made significant progress in improving transport accessibility, this gap in the network continues to create challenges for older residents, disabled people, parents with young children, and those travelling in poor weather.
Hither Green Station is a vital transport hub, providing access to central London and destinations across the wider rail network. However, limited bus connectivity means that many residents struggle to access these services conveniently. Extending the 225 bus route would provide a practical and affordable link between local neighbourhoods and key rail connections, helping residents to travel more easily for work, education, healthcare and leisure.
The proposal would also support wider transport and environmental objectives. Better bus links would encourage greater use of public transport, reduce reliance on private cars, help ease congestion on local roads, and contribute to efforts to reduce carbon emissions.
We are calling on TfL to:
- Extend the southbound 225 bus route from Hither Green Station to Bellingham Bus Station.
- Improve public transport access for Hither Green residents, especially those in the south of the ward.
Sign this petition and help us secure better public transport connections for residents within the Corbett and Whitefoot Estates.
