Extend phone signal coverage for new build houses

The Issue

Moving into a new build home in areas like ours, constructed in old fields, should mark the beginning of an exciting new chapter. For my neighbours and me, it has been anything but. Facing power cuts and lacking a reliable phone signal, we've found ourselves stranded and isolated.

As a disabled individual, the absence of a phone signal is more than just an inconvenience—it's a serious threat to our safety and well-being. Without a mobile signal, I cannot call for medical assistance during emergencies, connect with professionals for telehealth services, or even stay in touch with family and friends when they are needed most.

This isn't just my struggle. Many others in my community, who have also recently moved into these new builds, are dealing with similar challenges. The inability to connect with our doctors, workplaces, or anyone via phone due to poor signal coverage makes life unnecessarily difficult. Especially during blackouts, when communication tools like Wi-Fi and mobile apps fail us, having a strong phone signal becomes even more critical. The estate we live in is from 2017 now (although recently moved into by us), so it has been nearly 10 years of promise and no action.

The solution lies within reach. Telecommunications companies have the technology to easily extend phone signal coverage to these newly developed areas. By investing in new cell towers or signal boosters strategically placed, they can ensure that these houses are not left in a communication void.

We urge local governments, developers, and telecommunication providers to collaborate and prioritize expanding phone signal coverage to these new build homes. This small but crucial improvement would enormously enhance the quality of life for us residents, offering safety, connectivity, and the peace of mind essential in every home. New builds and old should have a requirement to have phone signal reach all the houses in the development.

Please support us in calling on these entities to bridge the communication gap for new build communities like ours. Sign this petition and help us reach a signal strong future.
