The Issue

As members of the local school community and residents of London, we have personally witnessed numerous accidents on Francis Road, some involving children. This has raised our concern about the safety of this area, especially during school drop-off times. Currently, the pedestrianised section of Francis Road is in effect from 10am to 8pm. We believe that extending these hours to a full time closure would significantly enhance safety and allow people to enjoy the street more securely for longer periods.

According to Transport for London's report in 2019, there were over 25,000 reported road traffic incidents involving pedestrians across London. This alarming statistic underscores our concerns about pedestrian safety on our streets.

By extending pedestrianisation hours on Francis Road, we can create a safer environment for our children during school drop-offs and pickups while also providing a more enjoyable space for residents throughout the day and into the evening also allowing the small local business community to encourage outside seating

We call upon local authorities to consider this proposal seriously and take immediate action towards implementing it. Please sign this petition if you support extended pedestrianisation hours on Francis Road in order to make it safer for all users at all times.
