Extend MARTA Green Line to Amtrak Peachtree Station

Extend MARTA Green Line to Amtrak Peachtree Station
The Issue
A deeply personal struggle with inadequate public transportation in Atlanta lies at the heart of this petition. Not as a resident, but as an individual concerned with sustainable urban development, I have observed that the growth of Atlanta has outpaced its public transportation system. The current reality is unsustainable, with escalating traffic congestion and increasing carbon emissions.
It is my conviction that the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) must extend its Green Line to serve the Amtrak Peachtree Station. This Green Line at present is a mere spur off the Blue Line. An extension, however, has the potential to make a positive impact, relieving the city of its traffic woes and reducing harmful emissions.
Investing in public transportation has proven to improve the economy and quality of life in cities around the world. In New York, for example, every $1 billion invested in public transit generated, on average, $4 billion in economic activity over 20 years (source: American Public Transportation Association, economic analysis). This is an example that the Atlanta region can and should emulate.
Skepticism is predictable, but in the face of worsening transport conditions, silence and inaction become our biggest enemies. It's time for positive change. Sign this petition and make Atlanta a healthier, safer, and more connected city.
